ok so it's a german word but it gives a flavour of what can happen in france.
what would be imperceptible in other cultures is more profound here. i suppose it's related to the quality of communication which infuses the french with an ability to influence each other quickly and for movements to swell up. what we saw with the first job contract protests was a celebration of this: the "ras de bol" spread throughout and inflected itself into two different branches - those who fear the legalised pigeonification of the young and refused to see this as valid, and those who saw the protests as a wholesale investment in cloud cookoo. the stage is set for a unifying force. where that force will come from and how it shall emerge are the cliffhangers in this wonderfully tempestuous phase in the tale of this dear wee republic. what prospect awaits?
